The Stanley

The hotel was wonderful and the staff were nice and friendly, even though rooms were being cleaned every 3 days, we got our room cleaned almost everyday and we were able to order late night food from the hotel restaurant from their room service menu. There’s a nice pool on the 9th floor and the gym and sauna on the 4th floor. Room was basic but nicely put together and breakfast was averagely ok. You can see the acropolis from the hotel and the view is beautiful especially at night

Only downside to this hotel is the location. Homeless shelter was five minutes walk from the hotel and on our first day, we had wanted to explore the city as it’s our first time in Athens, we started with the hotel area and the most scary scene was what we saw first, we even had to cancel some of our planes cos it didn’t feel safe, there are security personnel in front and around the hotel and we saw quite a number of police officers too but still we had to take caution. In a nutshell, the hotel is great but in a bad location. This maybe also explains why they offered lots of complimentary drinks in the room, everything in the room like tea and coffee included wine and beer in the fridge is free and they put bottled water everyday. Lastly, we were charged council tax on arrival which was a surprise and it cost 7€ per night.
