Thomas Mann relied on the Waldhotel, known as the Waldsanatorium until 1957, to create the sanatorium featured in his famous novel Der Zauberberg. Upon request, the Waldhotel offers guests arriving by train a free shuttle bus service from Davos Dorf Station. The bus also takes customers to the nearby ski slopes.
