Frequently asked questions about accommodation in Tokyo

Before booking your hotel in Tokyo, it is normal that you may have some questions. Here we answer some of the most common ones to help you make the best decision:

What is the best time to book hotel in Tokyo at the best price?

January, February and June are usually the cheapest months, since they are outside the high tourist season. To get good prices, it is ideal to book at least 2 to 3 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel in spring or autumn.

Does the hotel need to be close to a subway station?

Yes, it is highly recommended. Tokyo is a huge city and the subway is the fastest and most efficient way to get around. Staying near a station (preferably on the JR or Toei subway lines) will save you time and facilitate your daily commute.

How do capsule hotels work and are they worth it for several days?

Capsule hotels offer small individual compartments with the basics for sleeping. They are very economical and practical for short stays or solo travellers. For several days they can be a bit uncomfortable due to the lack of space and privacy, but they are a very curious and authentically Japanese experience.

Is breakfast usually included in the room rate?

It depends on the hotel. Some offer buffet breakfast (with Japanese and Western options), while others charge extra. It is always a good idea to check the details in the booking to confirm whether it is included or not.

Are hotels in Tokyo suitable for families with children?

Yes, many hotels offer family rooms, Crib/Cot and special services for children. Some even have playgrounds or close proximity to children's attractions. Just check the conditions of the accommodation before booking to make sure it suits your family's needs.

          Deceptive practices
Again one of those websites which doesnt put all the fees upfront and disguise it as a good deal. Deceptive at best.

When I arrived at the hotel I was told they had no booking under my name that I must be looking for a different hotel with a similar name. When I arrived at the address they suggested, there was no hotel at all. I suggest avoiding this hotel. However - when I contacted Amimir's customer service they were friendly, understanding and appeared ready to make it right.

The additional comments about 3 single beds did not go through to Vergilius’ booking system. They did not have 3 beds prepared for our room. It did not show. You need to check your system on how additional requirements get passed on to hotels through your system.
